AgentDAST vs Aikido Security: one job or a full platform?
By Tornike@realtornikeoBoth tools sell to developers and both start free. Scope separates them. Aikido Security is a code-to-cloud platform: SAST, dependency scanning, secrets, cloud checks, runtime protection, and DAST in one dashboard. AgentDAST does one job: assess a live website you own, and return evidence your coding agent can act on.
| Dimension | Aikido Security | AgentDAST |
|---|---|---|
| Scope | Code, dependencies, secrets, IaC, cloud, containers, DAST, runtime | Live website assessment only |
| Access needed | Repos and cloud accounts you connect | No repo; ownership proof on the public site |
| Free start | Developer plan at US$0, incl. 2 users, 10 repos, 1 domain | 100 assessments per month, no card |
| Paid step | Basic from 300 per month in total, incl. 10 users | US$19 one-time per 100 extra assessments, no renewal |
| Agent use | Dashboard and CI integrations first | Agent workspace by API, MCP tools, signed webhooks |
| Findings | Platform issues across scanners, with autofix features | Exact flag captures confirmed; observations need review |
Plan details are from Aikido pricing, checked on 4 November 2026. Currency, taxes, and fair-usage limits are as shown there. Aikido lists DAST among its free-plan features, with one domain included.
Choose Aikido if
- You want one vendor for code, supply chain, secrets, cloud, and compliance evidence, and your team will triage in one place.
- You need checks AgentDAST does not offer at all: SAST, SCA, IaC, container and cloud scanning, or runtime protection.
- A platform fee per month is fine because several scanners will be used every week.
Looking for an Aikido alternative? Choose AgentDAST if
- The only question is whether your deployed site exposes private data. A narrower tool answers it without connecting repos or cloud accounts.
- Your coding agent should run the loop itself: create a workspace by HTTP, verify the site, assess, fix, and retest through REST or MCP.
- You prefer paying per pack. Free allowance first, then US$19 per 100 assessments, with no subscription to remember.
- You want a strict confirmation rule. A planted capture flag either comes back exactly, or nothing is auto-confirmed.
Cost over a year, with the scope caveat
As listed on the checked date, Aikido Basic at 300 per month adds up to 3,600 over a year, for a platform covering code, cloud, and more for 10 users. On AgentDAST, the free tier alone covers 1,200 assessments a year at 100 per month. A heavy single-site user running 200 assessments a month would buy one US$19 pack a month, or US$228 over a year, for live website assessment only. Scope differs in these totals. Focus costs less for one layer. Breadth costs more and covers the rest.
Using both
This pairing works well. Keep a platform like Aikido on the code and cloud side, where breadth pays. Add AgentDAST after deploy for an outside view that needs no repo access. Our SAST vs DAST guide explains where the boundary sits. AgentDAST remains a beta HTTP assessor with no browser, public HTTPS targets only, and manual review for general observations. A clean run is not a certification, on either tool.
