AgentDAST vs Intruder: website assessment or broader monitoring?

By Tornike@realtornikeo

Last updated

Intruder covers infrastructure, cloud resources, container images and web applications across its plans. Its application licensing guide distinguishes infrastructure checks from deeper application testing. AgentDAST focuses on assessments of a live website.

The useful comparison starts with what you operate. A single app on managed hosting has a different security workload from a company maintaining servers, cloud accounts and several applications.

Choose Intruder for a broader estate

Intruder makes sense when you need to keep track of exposed infrastructure as well as application behavior. Its current plan table includes cloud checks and container scanning, with wider monitoring and internal scanning on higher tiers. Compare the assets covered by your quote with the systems you operate.

For your own web application, check the license type carefully. Intruder's application license adds DAST and authenticated coverage to the infrastructure checks. Its documentation also describes scanning from multiple authentications on one target. This is useful when the same app has different user roles.

Choose AgentDAST for an agent-driven release check

AgentDAST gives a coding agent a small integration surface: register, verify, assess and retrieve evidence. You can start without a repository connection or browser signup. A request and time budget makes each run bounded, and signed webhooks let your workflow collect the result.

Choose it for that website workflow. If you need a maintained inventory of servers, cloud configuration checks or container image analysis, include another tool. A general AgentDAST observation remains a claim to review against its recorded evidence.

Evaluate the coverage you need

Write down your important workflows before choosing: account access, private records, administrator actions and public endpoints. Give each tool suitable test data and measure which parts it reaches. Keep manual checks for business rules that the tool cannot establish from outside the application.
